Indoor environmental quality and cultural heritage conservation

In more than 25 years of activity in the field of cultural heritage the TEBE research group have developed tools (i.e. “Monitoring Report”) and methodologies (i.e. “Confidential Facility Report”) to collect information in museums and historic buildings related to the conservation of the artifacts and to the operation and maintenance of the HVAC systems.

At present the main research topics are the following:

- highlight of the environmental needs for preventive conservation and safeguarding of the works of art in museums and historic buildings;

- standardization of monitoring plans and innovation in monitoring techniques for measuring physical parameters (air temperature, surface temperature, relative humidity, pollutants concentration);

- development of standards and regional accreditation program for museums (facilities, security, management and collections' care).
