Green buildings integrated design

A cost effective design of green buildings requires a deep process of optimization in order to meet all the sustainability goals in the field of energy, indoor environmental quality, water management, sustainable materials within a pre-defined budget. Through an integrative design approach, the research focuses on methodology development for the optimization of the building components which affect energy demand and indoor comfort conditions, from the concept design stage to the final one. The holistic approach requires the use of dynamic simulation methods and sustainability assessment tools to evaluate performances and conduct sensitivity analysis of different design configurations.

At present the TEBE research group is involved in projects regarding the greening of existing buildings, particularly schools and museums.
