Energy use optimisation in cities (smart cities)

In the context of Europe 2020 strategy, smart cities are expected to play a key role by leading relevant actions towards energy-efficiency.

Smart Cities are characterized by a network of sensors, to better manage and control city systems by collating ever-detailed information about real time functioning, and to optimize decision making in the immediate, short and long term.

In this context, OPTIMUS project “OPTIMising the energy USe in cities with smart decision support systems” is the design, development and implementation of a Decision Support System (DSS) addressed to city authorities, to assist them in optimizing the energy use and reduce CO2 emissions related to public buildings.
